How to use
- Select motion speed (recommended: 480 or 960 px/s) and your desired visual pattern (high-contrast blocks, readable text, or dark transition).
- Track the moving object smoothly from left to right, focusing on the central pursuit synchronization mark.
- Examine trailing dark shadows (ghosting) or bright inverse halos (overshoot caused by aggressive overdrive).
When to use
- Visually comparing overdrive settings in the monitor OSD.
- Observing browser animation-callback stability.
- Comparing motion clarity between configured refresh-rate modes.
Limitations
Results depend on the browser, operating system and configured refresh rate. The tool does not measure physical response time, total latency or MPRT in milliseconds. Those measurements require instruments and a controlled procedure.

- What is the difference between GtG and MPRT?
- GtG describes pixel transitions under one measurement procedure; MPRT describes persistence under another. This animation measures neither value.
- How do I investigate bright halos?
- Compare the monitor’s Response Time or Overdrive levels and choose the best balance in real content. Names and effects vary by model.
Technical Methodology & Display Science
The animation uses `window.requestAnimationFrame`, scheduled before browser repaints. Cadence usually follows the display, but system conditions and background tabs may limit it.
Telemetry observes animation intervals to indicate cadence variation. It cannot prevent stuttering or confirm physical presentation of each frame.
Contrast tracks provide dark, mid-tone and bright transitions for visual comparison. They can make trails apparent but cannot identify display technology, cause or response time on their own.
