How to use
- Open the test fullscreen.
- Cycle through red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow, white and black.
- Inspect the entire area at a comfortable distance and repeat any suspicious result.
When to use
- Inspecting a new or used monitor, phone or tablet.
- Reviewing a display before a return or warranty period ends.
Limitations
This is a visual inspection, not an electronic diagnosis. It does not repair pixels or determine a manufacturer tolerance policy.
Questions
- What is the difference between a dead and stuck pixel?
- A point that stays dark on every color may indicate a dead pixel; one that keeps a color may indicate a stuck subpixel. Dirt and scaling can also mislead.
- Can a web page repair pixels?
- There is no guaranteed repair. Repeat the inspection and contact the manufacturer or qualified support before attempting a physical procedure.
