Backlight Bleed and IPS Glow Test
Backlight bleed is irregular leakage from an LCD backlight, while IPS glow changes with viewing angle. A black screen helps you compare these effects under your real viewing conditions.

How to use
- Use the brightness level you normally choose for dark content.
- Darken the room and open the black screen fullscreen.
- Observe straight on, then change angle slightly to distinguish glow from fixed bright patches.
When to use
- Checking a new display during its return period.
- Comparing two panels under the same conditions.
Limitations
Cameras often exaggerate brightness in dark scenes. This inspection does not measure luminance or determine whether a panel is outside manufacturer specifications.
Questions
- Are IPS glow and backlight bleed the same?
- No. IPS glow varies with angle and distance; backlight bleed tends to remain in one area of the panel.
- Can this tool fix backlight bleed?
- No. It only provides an observation surface. Contact the manufacturer or qualified support if the effect interferes with use.
