How to use
- Position the browser window facing your subject or onto a secondary display.
- Adjust intensity and color temperature (3200K to 6500K) to harmonize with ambient room light.
- Lower screen luminance if specular reflections appear on eyeglasses.

Limitations
Displayed CCT is an sRGB chromatic approximation rendered on-screen. Peak illuminance is bounded by the panel’s native nit rating.

- Can a monitor replace a physical softbox or ring light?
- It can provide nearby fill light, but offers less control over output, spectrum and placement than a dedicated fixture. Judge the result in the camera preview.
- What does the Kelvin temperature scale signify?
- Lower values (3200K) emit warm amber light mimicking incandescent tungsten; higher values (6500K / D65) emit crisp daylight white.
Technical Methodology & Display Science
A large nearby screen can behave as an area source and soften shadows compared with a small point source. Illuminance depends on panel size, brightness, distance and angle.
The “Kelvin” control maps a nominal range to sRGB colors. It neither measures nor calibrates the monitor’s emitted CCT; use the camera preview and adjust for the room.
Spectrum, uniformity and color rendering vary between panels. Color-critical or repeatable lighting requires a measured fixture suited to the task.
